A downloadable game for Windows

Welcome to Felroot, an adventure game inspired by classic 16 bit titles like Zelda:Link to the Past, SoulBlazer, and Secret of Mana.  You were traveling the world when a storm hit your ship stranding you and many others on an island that has both ancient and modern ruins.  Why the island was abandoned by humans is a mystery to solve in the full game.  Best with controller.

Demo contains a few quests, one challenge dungeon, and a boss finish.
Full game will contain a slew of items , currency, upgrades, many NPCs, the works.

Thank you for your consideration.

Nicely put together.  I'm very impressed at the quality of work you've been able to put into this! A lot of time has clearly been put into this game. Enemy designs, art assets, systems running behind the scenes. Good work!

As a fellow dev, I want to point out some critiques as we are all in this to make our games the best we can!

- I noticed you could hold charge then go into water, then have the charge bug out for a bit. Nothing major just pointing it out. You might already know.

- Consider moving stamina meter near the player character in a non-intrusive way. It's a bit hard to see on the edge of the screen for me personally.

- After I defeated all the enemies and walked into the cave (the one where the black thorns are blocking entrance). I was a bit disoriented after entering the cave and being on the top side of the map, even though I entered from the bottom. I decided to walk up and found myself back in the previous scene, doing the fight again to remove the black thorns. This may or may not be intentional. Just wanted to point it out.

- I eventually ended up with a black screen and I was unsure if that was intentional or my game bugged. I was able to see the light from my projectiles but nothing else. I was in the cave with the 3 symbols and the jelly fish. I cleared the second room where you fight a wave of enemies then proceeded. The next room for some reason when completely black. Sorry idk what caused it.

Overall I think this is a great demo. Keep up the good work! I'm always down to try updated builds!

Really great demo! The art, atmosphere, lighting looks amazing and with a lot of really nice small details. I liked the variety of enemies, the mechanics for combat with the orb took a little getting used to but overall I liked the mechanic. It took me a second to figure out the key binding for the orb (but I also might have just missed the hint on what to press). It also took me a few tries to figure out how to target the boss in the beginning of the fight at first, but I got it eventually! The mechanics for walking and melee attacks felt great, the roll does go a little far sometimes, and it would probably be nice to have a block mechanic (but that entirely depends on the type of gameplay you want to implement). The overall flow of the game was great though, I didn't feel stuck at any point and the NPCs gave good hints on what to do next, and exploring the environment felt really intuitive.

Overall a really cool game if you're looking for a nice atmosphere and some cool combat!

Just played through, I am really impressed with how diverse and organic the world is, it looks great.  I wasnt sure if there was a day/night cycle too, or if it was progressing as I went further but either way the lighting was cool too.  Also I like how fast the character moves, tho the dodge roll travels pretty far so sometimes it would take me from one dangerous situation right into another.  The melee attack is fast which is good but is very short range, and seemed to have an inconsistent attack rate so it was kinda hard to judge if I was going to land a hit.  (Especially vs flying enemies).  Also aiming the Fire Orb was a bit awkward trying to both lock it in a good position and the correct angle before the enemy moved away.  Maybe free aiming with the right stick might feel better?

Good job, this was a really cool demo

Thank you Jay for taking the time to play my game!
-The melee weapon is a starter weapon, there will be upgrades and other versions.
-There is day to night cycle! In the version I'm working on I added shadows to objects that change based on the time of day. (someday weather)
-The orb when you strafe freezes the orb in place and has an added line to help with aiming.
-Oh and swimming!

Thank you again!

There is a bug where if you shoot the large bats they fall asleep.  It will remain in the demo, but has been repaired in the full game.

Thank you again for the feedback!

I got to play! Congrats I can tell this game took a while to make. I had an addiction to Secret of Mana and Link games so I beat the giant crab easy. Feedback: The art is very good, just stick with one artist. The trees and plants are different from some of the other structures. It was not hard to play with the controller or keyboard so the game play was great! Good use of lighting and All in one shader. Minor bug when I collide with the enemy for a hold time the player stays in the hurt position. My HP didn't go down which is good. You could do a temp invincible mode.

New version up as of 2:45pm MST. 10/24/22
Now with less game breaking bugs!
